MORPHOFUNCTIONAL CHANGES IN THE THYROID GLAND IN IMMUNODEPRESSION
Abstract
A comprehensive histological, morphometric, histochemical and electron microscopic study of the thyroid gland in immunosuppression was carried out. New data were obtained on the effect of the immunosuppressant cyclophosphamide on the morphofunctional state of the thyroid gland, its main tissue and cellular mechanisms were revealed, and the features of its effect were established depending on the dose and duration of drug administration. Previously undescribed histological and morphometric changes in the organ were identified upon administration of an immunosuppressant, combined with histoenzymological and ultrastructural transformations of thyrocytes. It has been established that with immunosuppression caused by high doses of cyclophosphamide, inhibition of the activity of the thyroid gland occurs in combination with dystrophic and degenerative changes in some cells.
