Abstract

Cerebrovascular diseases are the most common pathological conditions in neurological practice. In the countries of Eastern Europe and the CIS, there is an increase in morbidity and mortality from vascular brain lesions, which is up to 13% annually.

If by now, thanks to the efforts of the National Stroke Association, statistics on the occurrence of acute strokes are available in many regions of our country [11], then there is practically no real data on the number of patients with chronic cerebral ischemia. However, chronic cerebral ischemia is the most common form of cerebrovascular diseases. According to the Scientific Center of Neurology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the number of patients with chronic cerebral ischemia in our country is steadily growing, amounting, approximately, to at least 700 per 100,000 population.
