SELF-STUDY AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHERS AND RESEARCHERS

This article aims to describe what self-study research is and why self-study can be a good approach to teachers’ professional development and improvement in practice. In addition, the article identifies some methodological aspects related to independent study. Independent study is the practice of teachers who study intentionally and systematically to improve it, based on a deeper understanding of the practice. As the article points out, engaging in teacher self-study is a process of learning and development and an approach to developing personal professionalism, team professionalism and practice.
