Abstract

Nowadays the prevalence of obesity in the world has reached alarming proportions and continues to grow in developed as well as developing countries. Maternal obesity has become one of the most common of risk factors in obstetric and gynecological practice. For a mother, obesity increases the risk of obstetric complications in the antenatal, intranatal and postnatal period. The most common violation Metabolic during pregnancy is gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), which more common in obese mothers. According to international studies, GDM during pregnancy is independently associated with a high risk of perinatal and obstetric complications. Children, birth children from mothers with obesity and GDM also have higher rates of perinatal morbidity and increased risk of long-term health problems.
