Nowadays the prevalence of obesity in the world has reached alarming proportions and continues to grow in developed as well as developing countries. Maternal obesity has become one of the most common of risk factors in obstetric and gynecological practice. For a mother, obesity increases the risk of obstetric complications in the antenatal, intranatal and postnatal period.
